What is transcriptomics?
Transcriptomics provides information about all of the RNA sequences found within a cell and includes data about coding and non-coding RNA transcripts [1, 2]. Transcriptomic data can be generated with the use of RNA sequencing or by performing microarrays [3]. These methods entail the conversion of mRNA into complementary DNA, which subsequently gets sequenced [4]. Overall, this data can reveal a lot about gene expression in different types of tissues in the body and how this expression is subject to change, which has implications for regulation within cells [3]. The Human Protein Atlas is one source that provides transcriptomic data [5].
What can be learned from the transcriptomics of GBA1?

Discussion
The above images from the Human Protein Atlas depict that GBA1 is expressed in tissues all throughout different organs of the body [6]. Additionally, it can be seen that GBA1 is expressed in the brain, which is important when considering that severe cases of Gaucher disease include neurological symptoms [6]. Additionally, GBA1 is expressed in the liver, one of the organs that characteristically becomes enlarged in Gaucher disease [6]. The spleen is also one of the main organs of the lymphatic system, which is associated with lymphoid tissues [8, 9]. The spleen can also be enlarged in Gaucher disease.
